The Popular Show Campaign 4 Unveils the Soldiers Party
Ever since the premiere of the fourth campaign, new Dungeon Master Brennan Mulligan has kept fans guessing with rich lore, a colorful mix of personalities, and a gripping narrative featuring celestial beings, fiends, and malevolent powers growing in influence within the city.
Note: Spoilers for the latest installment of Campaign 4 lie ahead.
The Combat-Oriented Party Introduced
The third episode concluded with a major cliffhanger and presented the initial group of characters who will branch out from the main group to embark on their own adventure, separate from the other two tables.
The Soldiers table consists of the determined fighter (brought to life by Travis), the agile character (Laura Bailey), Tyranny (Whitney), Wicander (the player), and Kattigan (Robbie).
Dividing the Cast
Considering an extensive roster, it was evident from the beginning that maintaining everyone at a single group would be unworkable.
Hence, the first four episodes of Campaign 4 serve as an Introduction, connecting the individual narratives before branching into three distinct groups: Warriors, Planners, and Seekers.
The Nature of the Soldiers Table
As described by Brennan Lee Mulligan, the warrior group is for participants who enjoy a typically action-packed fight-heavy narrative style where diplomatic options are rare.
At first glance, figures such as the reluctant priest Wicander might look out of place, but the developments of episode 3 make it clear why these specific adventurers are perfectly fit for the warrior group.
Motivations for Departure
For one thing, the team understands precisely where to proceed after a violent opening clash with The Crow Keepers.
A former ally of Thjazi Fang—whose demise kicked off the story’s plot—exploited the foes for his selfish purposes, breaking into the hidden lair, attacking Thimble, and swiping all the enchanted items to sell off.
The antagonist then paid off his liabilities and escaped to a Halovar stronghouse in the remote area, beyond Dol-Makjar, with Teor’s brother pursuing him.
Individual Reasons
Moreover, each character has a individual motive to depart the urban setting:
- The agile hero, as Thjazi’s partner and trusted friend, wants retribution.
- Kattigan knows Timmony and advises that it is a dangerous environment.
- The warrior and Wicander, having disobeyed his house’s orders to kill the target and instead freed him, have no safe haven.
- But, their position as important members in the influential clan could help the team reach places they normally couldn’t.
- Moreover, Teor vowed a life debt to Wicander for his salvation and will now follow him wherever.
Wanted and Hunted
Lastly, all of them are sought by the authorities that govern Dol-Makjar for a multiple motives, making remaining behind no longer safe:
- Thimble and Kattigan are known criminals.
- The strong figure and The healer turned against the influential house and the legion of demons they are partnered with.
- The fighter is targeted for elimination by the clan.
This leaves them no alternative but to journey toward the remote area in quest for the antagonist.
What’s Next?
From the recent installment’s post-show segment, we learn that the Soldiers table will be absent in the upcoming installment, leaving the rest of the players to form the Explorers and Strategists parties.
Fans can look forward to learning which players will be in which group in Campaign 4’s last Overture episode, released on next week.
